Mahsa Amini protests
On 16th September, 22-year-old Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini has been murdered by the police “for not wearing her hijab properly”. This tragic event has caused a wave of protests across Iran for 10 days now. Security forces violently suppress protests by beating people, opening fires or firing tear gas. At least 54 people had died since the protests begun. In my opinion, killing a woman, because some tiny part of her skin or a few strands of her hair are visible is just so wrong. Situations like that shouldn’t be happening in these times, but sadly they’re still quite common. In relatively many countries woman are still being downgraded. I know that the protests are dangerous, because of how aggressive security forces are, but I think that there is a hope that they can actually help putting a stop to mistreating woman, so they should continue, so maybe something finally changes. source: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/26/world/middleeast/iran-iraq-protests-kurdistan-separatist...
