Manipulation tactics pt. 2

Another manipulation tactic worth mentioning is social comparison. People tend to measure their success, attractiveness, even happiness by comparing themselves to others. Manipulators know and use this phenomenon really well. It could be used to convince people to take a certain action e. g. the celebrity is on a diet, so you should be too.

Next form of manipulation is called responsibility invocation. It relies on using obligations (like booking appointments e. g. at the hairdresser or whatsoever) to convince somebody to follow through the plans that they’ve made. That way saying “no” can be way harder.

Pleasure induction is rather a harmless manipulation tactic, but still – it’s a form of manipulation. It can be used by people to convince others to take actions, e. g. by saying “come on, let’s do this, it will be fun!”.

Last manipulation tactic which I’m going to talk about is monetary reward. Manipulators offer people money in exchange of committing acts they normally wouldn’t have commited.
